Journalism has always fascinated me because of its power to inform, connect, and inspire change. As a student journalist, I’m excited by the endless possibilities storytelling offers, whether it’s giving a voice to the unheard, shedding light on important issues, or capturing the energy of a community through the lens of sports and culture. I believe journalism isn’t just about reporting facts; it’s about creating impact. Every story has the potential to move people, and that’s what drives me to grow, learn, and embrace every opportunity this field has to offer.
ABOUT ME.
My name is Nay’Ron Jenkins, and I’m a Broadcast Journalism scholar at Florida A&M University with a deep passion for storytelling, leadership, and community impact. As a Division I student-athlete and captain of the FAMU Football Team, I’ve learned the importance of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance — values that guide both my work on the field and in the newsroom.
Beyond athletics, I’ve committed myself to growth through service and leadership. I currently serve as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a TRIO Student Support Services Scholar, and I’ve represented FAMU in national programs such as the New York Giants Future Leadership & Mentorship Forum, AT&T Dream in Black, and the NFL Future Leaders in Football Forum.
My passion for storytelling is rooted in my belief that every voice has power and every story has purpose. Whether I’m reporting, mentoring students, or leading faith-based initiatives through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I aim to uplift, inform, and inspire others.
Beyond the Field
Growing up in Alachua, Florida, I developed a love for the outdoors—spending early mornings fishing, hunting with family, and appreciating the peace of nature. Those roots influence my creative work today, inspiring projects that highlight resilience, community, and the stories that often go untold.
